    New Bulgarian University

    NexGen in Psychology is a student conference organized by the Research Center for Cognitive Science at New Bulgarian University in cooperation with Mykolas Romeris University and Paris 8 University as part of the ERUA consortium. This two-day event will bring together psychology students across all education levels (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD) from ERUA universities.

    It will consist of two parts: 1) a presentation competition and 2) a workshop series.

    During the presentation competition, psychology students will present their completed empirical research projects in a brief format: 5 minutes per presentation with only 4 slides allowed. It will help students practice their presentation skills and learn to translate their research findings into brief and informative presentations. The focus on empirical research is aligned with ERUA’s focus on project-based learning and pursuit of excellence in research in combination with a student-centered approach. We propose student presentations to be grouped by educational level and by sub-field of psychology depending on the number of participants. Presentations will be evaluated by a jury from participating universities based on both the rigor of the research and the delivery.

    The second part of the conference will be dedicated to students’ professional development in the field of psychology. We will offer a short series of seminars and hands-on workshops on preparing a resume/CV, applying to graduate school, designing a conference poster among other topics. This event will also be a good opportunity to develop academic networking skills.

    Goals of the Event:

    1. To provide students with an opportunity to present their empirical research from the field of psychology to an international audience;
    2. To promote the dissemination of academic empirical research in the field of psychology across ERUA and within Bulgaria
    3. To support psychology students’ professional development through a series of workshops on relevant topics
    4. To foster new research collaborations across ERUA psychology programs.

    Format:

    The competition will be in person at the New Bulgarian University in Sofia.

    However, the presentations and workshops will be streamed.
